CSVA Volunteer Awards

10th December 2024

Without the invaluable help and support of our wonderful Volunteers, we simply couldn’t operate a lot of our services or complete many of the works and projects that require hours of labour throughout the Village.

From individuals willing to give up their time week in, week out to work parties from some of our corporate partners and local businesses, Volunteers support so many areas of the workforce, they are the unsung heroes of our organisation. Roles are varied and include administration, archiving and finance to gardening, clearing and painting. Despite these roles having a high priority, like serving in the Village Shop and befriending our most vulnerable residents, we do not receive funding for these.

Central Surrey Volunteer Action (CSVA) support and shape best practice in volunteering and social action in Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell and Mole Valley. In November they held an awards event to recognise and celebrate the vital work carried out by Volunteers in the region.

We were delighted that two of our Volunteers received awards.

Davina Davie won the award for Outstanding Contribution. She has consistently shown true empathy and commitment to residents in the Village Shop even throughout Covid-19. Each week she bakes cakes and hands out a slice to all who come into the shop – even those who don’t make a purchase! Davina thinks of residents as her family, a sentiment which is reciprocated. Thank you so much for all your support over the years Davina!

Chloe Nelson has volunteered at the Trust since May 2019 and won the award for Long Service. She visits twice weekly to assist with dining at lunchtimes. Chloe is warm hearted, always smiling and thoroughly loved by our residents and staff.  She really is one in a million! A huge thank you to Chloe from all at Whiteley Village.
