“I have made a close friendship with the lady that I visit and send her postcards when we travel, which I know she enjoys receiving. Very small but I love sending them as much as she likes receiving them. Volunteering at Whiteley is now so much part of my life I can’t really imagine not doing it!”
Would you or your group like to volunteer at Whiteley Village? You’d be joining a great team! As a charity, volunteers are hugely important to us because they support our staff in making a real difference to those living here at Whiteley Village.
There are many ways in which you can volunteer for our charity, to support older people in need.
Individuals
We welcome your skills and any amount of time you have to spare. There is a huge variety of roles and projects you can get involved in, and services you can support, such as our Lantern Cafe, our Village shop or Reception teams. We also have a Befriending Scheme which supports residents who might otherwise be lonely or isolated. So if any of this sounds of interest and you’d like to find out more, we’d love to hear from you.
Schools and colleges
We are proud to have strong partnerships with a number of our local schools, colleges and youth groups such as local Beavers & Cubs.
This has resulted in some exciting intergenerational projects between our residents and young people who have helped us organise community events and activities such as picnics, BBQs and gardening and DIY projects, supported by our Property & Estates team.
We’ve had some amazing feedback from the young people and their teachers and leaders, about the impact of the time they’ve spent with us across the village. So if your school, college or youth group would be interested in supporting us, please get in touch for more information.
