In Touch – April
8th April 2022
The Whiteley Homes Trust is one of Surrey’s oldest charities – housing and supporting older people in need for over 100 years and we are very fortunate to have our own museum on site. The museum showcases a huge range of fascinating artefacts from our history which have been carefully collected and curated by our residents over the decades, and are now cared for by one of our villagers, Daryl Selbie.
In this month’s In Touch we feature a visit made to the museum by the residents of Ingram House, one of our one site care homes. Activity coordinator Jess Sharp said: “We had a fantastic trip to the museum and Daryl and Alan gave us a very warm welcome and a fascinating tour”.
The museum building is quite small and is packed with photos and memorabilia but it also means it can only accommodate a few people at a time. Residents enjoyed the visit so much that more wanted to go along and so staff agreed to organise another one! Some of the residents remembered living in the village with their families when they were young and so were also able to share their histories with Daryl too.
