In Touch: November

5th November 2021

Our charity is delighted to announce in this month’s In Touch how we will be supporting the Queen’s Green Canopy Scheme, in celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee next year. This national tree planting initiative is strongly supported by our Patron, HRH The Prince of Wales, who joined with The Queen in launching it earlier this year. We also say a sad farewell to the Revd. Keith Jowett, leader of our Community Church and a much loved member of Whiteley’s pastoral team. We are very grateful for his dedication to our residents over the years and wish him and his wife Rosalind every success and happiness in the years ahead. With hundreds of older people from all walks of life living at Whiteley, there’s a treasure trove of stories to be told, and in this edition we feature Beryl’s. Occasionally our charity is able to offer retiring staff a permanent home in one of our almshouses as a beneficiary if they qualify, and so were very happy to do this for Beryl and her late husband – both former employees, enabling them to stay in the place they loved with their friends around them.
