In Touch: October

8th October 2021

Awards are always exciting whether you are giving them or a recipient, and so it’s lovely to have this as a special theme in this month’s edition of our newsletter, In Touch. Our small charity was thrilled to be announced as a finalist in the prestigious LaingBuisson social care & health awards 2021 recently – alongside some much bigger providers, for the quality of care we delivered to our residents during the pandemic (page 3). This was our first attempt at entering these awards as well, so it was an especially exciting achievement both for our charity and for all our staff whose hard work and commitment helped protect residents (as well as staff) – with just two cases and no Covid deaths in our care homes to date. We’re keeping everything crossed for the announcement on 18th November – so wish us luck, and watch this space! We were delighted to be making some awards of our own last month to recognise some Whiteley community champions in our Founder’s Day Awards, which are held as part of our annual celebrations to commemorate the birthday of our founder and benefactor, William Whiteley. Our winners (lead story), were nominated by their fellow residents and our management team for their extraordinary kindness and dedication towards others and their contribution to our community life, and you can read more about them and all our other news here.
