The Whiteley Homes Trust can confirm it is meeting the legislative processes required to ensure a robust approach to safeguarding matters within our resident population to keep people safe. We aspire to provide high quality nursing, residential and domiciliary care across our regulated care services. We understand our safeguarding responsibilities and consider them of vital importance, extending these responsibilities to residents in our village community who are not in receipt of care and may be vulnerable.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have been assured we have robust processes in place to support staff to recognise the abuse and keep people safe, in whichever regulated setting they be living. In our regulated services staff understand the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and work within the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS).
We report our safeguarding activity against agreed metrics on a monthly basis as part of Quality Assurance, with Clinical Governance reports submitted quarterly to our Trustees Care and Community Committee. We work in partnership with Elmbridge Locality whenever a safeguarding concern is raised in a regulated service.
The Board at The Whiteley Homes Trust is assured that we are:
- Meeting our statutory requirements for Disclosure Barring Service [DBS] checks for our staff
- Safeguarding policies are in place and align with Surrey Safeguarding Procedures
- A Training Needs Assessment is in place to ensure those working with vulnerable adults complete mandatory training as a priority and have access supervision relevant to their roles
- We have a named lead for safeguarding adults in place in our regulated services, which provides the Board with assurances that safeguarding systems and process are effective and compliant
- Following good practice to keep people safe.
