Rachel Hill

Chief Executive Officer

I have directed large clinical and non-clinical teams at Guy’s and St Thomas’, Woking and Sam Beare Hospices and more recently at Whiteley Village. I joined the Whiteley Homes Trust in 2018 from Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust where I was Head of Nursing Haematology, Cellular Pathology, Spiritual Care, Palliative and End of Life Care. Prior to that, I was Director of Clinical Services at Woking and Sam Beare Hospices. A registered nurse, I have a Masters Degree in Palliative Care from King’s College London.

I am passionate about providing high quality housing and support to those who need it most, and ensuring our residents are able to live life in all its fullness whatever their age, health or state of illness. I am strongly committed to social justice and to empowering compassionate and supportive communities to develop and thrive.

Katherine Sargent

Director of People

I started my HR career with Marks and Spencer and worked for 12 years in various roles, progressing to HR employment policy lead and Head of HR for the Change Programme. In 2006 I established my own HR consultancy, supporting SMEs with no HR department. The Whiteley Homes Trust was originally one of my clients but as my involvement developed, I later joined the Trust permanently as Director of People.

Since then the organisation has achieved a Silver accreditation for Investors in People and is working towards achieving Gold in 2020. I have led on the development and launch of an innovative Values Framework to drive staff engagement and retention. I also led the Trust’s transition programme, which included the launch of a new Model of Care and the complex relocation of residents and staff into the new Eliza Palmer Hub, nursing care centre.

Julian Briant

Director of Property & Housing

I am a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with over 35 years’ experience in Estate Management working for a range of charity and private clients including an Almshouse Charity based in Balham, London SW12 for the benefit of disabled ex-Service personnel, and an endowed educational charity assisting residents across 9 London Boroughs. My work has taken me to Hampstead Garden Suburb and Letchworth, both notable examples of the Garden City movement. The architecture at Whiteley Village is therefore very familiar.

My expertise is predominantly in property management and maintaining and improving vacant buildings, often Listed and within Conservation Areas, to achieve their full potential.

I joined the Trust in February 2020 and am thrilled to be working within such stunning architecture.

Outside work I am a Singing Member of The Bach Choir which shares a Patron with Whiteley Village.

Kevin Humphrys

Director of Care and Community

I joined Whiteley Homes Trust in 2019 as Interim Director of Care, with overall responsibility for the safe and effective delivery of care and support to residents across Whiteley Village. I have over 10 years’ experience of senior leadership in health and social care and am a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management.

I have worked in both the not-for-profit and commercial sectors throughout the UK to support the delivery of respite and domiciliary care in the community and in care and nursing homes for those with dementia. I have also enabled the delivery of supported living services for those with mental health problems & learning disabilities and of rehabilitation services for those with acquired brain injuries.

I have a personal interest in psychology and am a qualified Practitioner of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I was ordained as an Anglican priest in 2000 and remain an active member of the clergy; working as an Assistant Priest in the Diocese of Chichester.
