Living at Whiteley

Specialist housing for older people has always been our purpose

In our beautiful village setting, The Whiteley Homes Trust charity has over 100 years’ experience of accommodating, supporting and caring for older people of limited means.

The majority of our residents live independently in one of our almshouse cottages and for those requiring more support, we also offer extra-care apartments in Huntley House.

In both of these types of accommodation our charity can provide personalised care and support, initially funded via the individual’s personal attendance allowance and in the longer term by social services following an assessment.

Opened in 2019, the Eliza Palmer Hub care home, provides nursing care in beautiful open-plan facilities.

Villagers are encouraged and enabled to live happy and fulfilling lives, as independently as possible, supported by our dedicated and highly skilled care and nursing team.

Specialist therapy is also available to all our residents on a group and individual basis from our visiting physiotherapist. Further details are available on request.

Our Village Charter was devised by Whiteley residents to set out the expectations we all have of what good community living looks and feels like: being neighbourly, kind and respectful, and supporting each other. This is the foundation that underpins our way of life at Whiteley Village.

Applicants of limited means
In accordance with our charitable purpose, most of our accommodation is only available to rent to retired people of limited means. Our housing team will require evidence of this as part of your application.

Self-funding applicants
Some accommodation at Whiteley Village is available to those who can fund themselves. We offer high-dependency nursing care at the Eliza Palmer Hub. There are also a small number of rental and leasehold purchase options available in the Village. Please contact us for more information.

Dementia care
Regretfully, at the present time we are unable to offer accommodation to any new residents with diagnosis of dementia. If someone develops dementia whilst living at Whiteley, we may be able to support them depending on the complexity of their needs.

We prioritise applicants according to need and match them to a suitable property, and in line with the stated Objects of the Charity, including:
